hey there. this month's mix is an eclectic selection of jazz funk, soul, deep house...kicking off with a lovely acoustic joe clausell tune, ultra nate's twisted, a wicked shawn phillips nugget backed by the headhunters, a great crazy p tune, and the brilliantly titled latinica witch. oh and some street corner symphony too. happy listening. hello 2moro, time 2 unwindApril 05, 2009 11:46 AM PDT
Hello there, welcome to the slow down selection. Some phat flavas for your ear this week...laidback hiphop and dusty rare grooves, mixed on a sunny, spring sunday morning. I can't remember all the tunes but here's an approximate tracklist: the three pieces - backed up against the wall

Greetings....We're back up to better audio quality this week. The podcast people decided to lower everyone's bandwith. I've now paid for hosting so can post at 128kbps - hopefully this mix should sound a lot less muffled... A roots and dub selection this week for all the outernational reggae heads. All played from original vinyl with versions and a little echo and fx in the mix. Hope you enjoy, wherever in the world you're listening. Peace. Tracklist: barry brown - jah never sleep black roots 7"

Here's a fine selection of some of my favourite tunes from groundbreaking label Mo' Wax. Way back in the early 90s I was at Gilles Peterson and James Lavelle's night, That's How It Is at London's Bar Rumba. It was on a Monday night which attracted a regular crowd of headz, students and Japanese expats. A lot og good music got played. GP dropped a tune by RPM called '2000'. I'd never heard anything like it and got really excited...'What the f*ck is this tune?' I said to mate Ellis. Turned out that a mate of his had made it and just signed it to Mo Wax, a label I more readily associated with soulful beats and acid jazz. After hearing that I was hooked. '2000' really did it for me as I was really into roots reggae, funk and hiphop at the time, and it was this incredible mix of dubbed out fx, a mashed up Studio 1 style bassline, tough breakbeats, and wicked stoner hiphop sensibilities. It's fair to say that it was probably the first triphop (don't like the term, but you know what I mean) thing I'd heard out at a club. Needless to say I waited another few months before the 12" saw the light of day, but by then I'd bought all the other Mo' Wax releases I could find. I loved the bold artwork, the extra loud pressings, the attention to detail and the eclectic mix of all the musical genres I was into...As the 90s went on Mo' Wax would release tons of underground classics. This mix is a selection of some favourites - all from mad blunted vinyl, as they say. Hope you dig it... Money mark - Insects

I just got back from a wicked time in Bahia, my favourite state in Brazil. It's beautiful there. Like the country itself, Brazilan music is really diverse and every time I visit, I hear different styles of music I've never heard before. This selection is a mix of old and new music from, or inspired by, Brazil mixing some straight up samba, batucada, timeless classics from sergio mendes and milton nascimento with house from Joe Clausell, new school tunes from Zeep and Da Lata and a bit of drum of bass from DJ Marky...and me. You can get my Bahia Beats tune that's included towards the end of the mix on the newly released No 1 Drum and Bass Album through Demon Records. Enough plugging...hope you like the mix - oh, and email me for a tracklist if you want one coz I've forgotten some of the tune names for now. a bit more bassOctober 27, 2007 06:20 PM PDT
Had a great time in Marrakech last week; particuarly good time at the Puro Desert music festival where I saw Gilles Peterson and Coldcut DJ - both on form. Back this week with a podcast that catches up with some stuff I've been listening to on the ipod whilst away. This episode is a bit more bass-heavy - particuarly feeling the first tune by Landslide feat. Ernesto. Heavy! Newish Moodyman tune also excellent and gotta love that rednoose Domu dub. A couple of tunes in the middle are a lament for the nights at Club Arun's - then finishing up with some worthy reggae mash-ups. All mixed live. As always, feel free to leave shouts and comments - makes it all worthwhile! Peace, Simon. Tracklist - from what I can remember Landslide ft Ernesto - Solitary
